The 40-year-old actor, Henry Cavill in a 2022 interview with GamesRadar opened up about his journey in the Enola Holmes series.

Discussing his side as Sherlock Holmes in the hit Netflix series, he stated,

“It’s important to get things right. It’s important to make sure the tone of things is not lost in the potential excitement of franchises and universes.”

Considering his experience playing the iconic spy character, he shared that the film challenged his character which he thinks “Sherlock enjoys it enormously.”

He continued,

“I think part of him enjoys actually being genuinely challenged. It isn’t boring. He’s on the back foot, and against the ropes.”

In the second part, the detective had to face a further challenge that lay ahead of him. He opened up about feeling frustrated and scuppered to solve the mystery. While his character struggled with the challenges, the actor hinted at the future which has now become a harsh reality.

Before the sequel hit the world, many were wondering whether he would reprise his role in the franchise given that he shared a “fantastic energy” with Millie Bobbie Brown who portrayed the titular character in the film.

When asked about his future in the Enola Holmes series, the actor subtly hinted about his overall trajectory which unfolded in the past few months. He carefully weaved his words and shared,

“It’s always so difficult to tell where things are going, and what will happen.”

He further added,

“I have experience with franchises going places, and going quiet, and other franchises popping up and becoming exciting. It’s all about the decision-making up top, and everything else that goes with it. I’m merely the hired work.”

Though, his words somehow aligned with his situation when he announced his departure from Netflix’s series, The Witcher series to reprise his role of Superman in the DCEU. The next is quite clear to everyone now, as the new DC slate has plans which had no place for Cavill’s Superman. Given that Warner Bros and Netflix did not want the actor to be in his prominent projects, it is still a question as to whether he would reprise the detective role.

Meanwhile, he is set to return to the role of Geralt of Rivia for the last time in season 3 of The Witcher which will be taken over by Liam Hemsworth in the next season. The Netflix series will bring out the upcoming season in two volumes, the first coming out this June 29, and the second volume will be released on July 27, 2023.
