Sandra Bullock is one of the greatest and most renowned actresses (fairly so) in the entertainment industry. But if there’s something that is more famous than her acting, it’s her one strict rule that she self-imposed on herself which states that she would never star in any sequel to her movies, ever again.
Although, considering her history of failed sequels this rule just seems appropriate, yet her The Lost City co-star Daniel Radcliffe somehow seems to have made such an impact on Bullock that she was bound to rethink her rule, also hinting at reuniting with Keanu Reeves.
Sandra Bullock Vowed To Never Do Sequels Due To This Reason
Sandra Bullock made the rule of never making sequels to her movies again, and this decree of hers is somehow fairly so. Sharing the reason behind this unbreakable rule of hers around the time she was in talks for The Heat, she said,
“I’m not doing a sequel to ‘The Heat.’ I’ve done two sequels. They were horrible. What Melissa and I had was beautiful. We might do another film together. I think we should do a silent film together.”
The only two sequels that Bullock has done throughout her career were 1) Speed 2: Cruise Control, the sequel to her breakthrough movie Speed, and 2) Miss Congeniality 2: Armed and Fabulous, the sequel to her superhit Miss Congeniality, and both these movies received terrible reviews as per Rotten Tomatoes, standing at an epic 4% and 16% approval ratings respectfully.
But it seems that now The Blind Side star is finally reconsidering her stance on her indestructible pledge, judging from her comment during the promotion of her most recent movie, The Lost City.
“I had a ‘no sequel’ rule when I didn’t have the benefit of fighting for what I really wanted. I feel like, in my old age, I’m learning to fight for the things that I think would be best on screen — and I don’t care who comes away from the meeting angry.”
And the reason behind her reevaluating her past decisions regarding sequels is none other than her 2022 action/adventure’s co-star, Daniel Radcliffe.
How Daniel Radcliffe Changed This Self-Imposed Rule Of Sandra Bullock
In The Lost City, Sandra Bullock worked alongside Daniel Radcliffe, and that certainly has made an impact on the actress’s decision on her no-sequel rule. Sitting beside the Harry Potter star during the interview, the Bird Box star implied doing a possible sequel for the movie if ‘the script was on point’.
“I don’t know that I’d want to do a sequel, but look — we had Dana Fox as a writer. If Dana Fox could come up with something brilliant… There you go,” she said.
“Speed 3: Horsepower, [Sandra Bullock] on a horse—My friends have been pitching it to me.”
The Proposal responded to this, saying,
“If Daniel would direct Speed 3: Horsepower…that’s what’ll get me out of the house.”
This earned her a remark from the Kill Your Darlings star saying “Don’t threaten me with a good time.” Considering this conversation and her comment, it seems that it won’t be too long before fans might see Sandra Bullock in a sequel once again. Though this time, it just might not end up as an epic flop like the others!
