"I'm just tired": Chad Stehelski Will Hate It If Keanu Reeves Returns Just For a Cash Grab With John Wick 5

Chad Stahelski and Keanu Reeves are two of the few good guys remaining in Hollywood. Starting their journey in 2014 with John Wick, the duo worked together for almost a decade till the release of John Wick: Chapter 4.

After the fourth installment ended, director Chad Stahelski talked about a potential fifth John Wick film. The director stated bluntly that he was very tired from making John Wick movies and that he wanted a break. Stahelski further clarified that even if he were to make another installment, he wouldn’t make it just to loot audiences’ money.

With four intense action movies to his name, Chad Stahelski has become somewhat of an iconic director and a guru at action movies. John Wick: Chapter 4 gave a great ending to the franchise in a way that wrapped things up but could still continue in the future if they want to.

In an exclusive interview with The Direct, Stahelski talked about the future of the John Wick franchise and his plans to create an upcoming Keanu Reeves. The director honestly admitted that he’s very tired but he will make a John Wick movie if they have genuinely something to give to audiences around the world.

“Right now, if you put a gun in my head, you might as well shoot me. Because I’m kind of fried. But it doesn’t mean… Like if you look behind there are bookcases and shelves of notebooks with hundreds of ideas for other set pieces and stuff.”

He further continued,

“If I wake up tomorrow and there’s an idea to entertain the audience that we feel is really gonna deliver and not be just a cash grab. Yeah, I’d research it and go down that road. I just, I don’t have that today.”

Although the director is tired, he couldn’t help himself but reveal the names of several actors who he would like to work it. Alongside these actors, certain characters whose stories were left incomplete could also reprise their roles if John Wick 5 does happen.

John Wick: Chapter 4 ended with Keanu Reeves’ character suffering death from his wounds. Although it was never shown, fans speculate that Mr. Wick is still alive and out there. With an upcoming spin-off titled Ballerina, here’s what the cast of John Wick 5 would look like if the film were to happen.

Starting with the obvious, Keanu Reeves will indeed make a return. Alongside Reeves, Ian McShane and Laurence Fishburn can return to their characters of Winston Scott and Bowery King respectively. Donnie Yen’s Caine was seen in a post-credit scene in John Wick: Chapter 4 so his reprisal wouldn’t be so shocking. And last but not least, Shamier Anderson, who portrayed the role of Tracker in the fourth installment will surely have to return since people don’t know anything about him at all.

These remain rumors and speculations as there has been no confirmation of a John Wick 5 in development or plans for the movie’s development. The John Wick franchise is available to rent on Apple TV+ in the U.S.
