The MCU star claimed that at the time, she believed she might not look perfect for playing the FBI agent’s role because of her childish appearance. Olsen shared that she was concerned about the aspects of playing this challenging character and that it made her nervous. Reflecting on her meeting with Sheridan, the Avengers: Endgame star shared:

“When I met with him, I was totally confused because his scripts are so poetic, but he comes across as this modern-day cowboy or Marlboro Man. He’s a very intense, intimidating character. Kind of direct and aggressive and no bull(crap), but with this highly intelligent emotional side. It makes perfect sense with the experiences he’s had and the world he likes to write about.”

The actress further shared that at the time she got the role of Jane Banner, she doubted if she was the perfect fit for this part,

“I wouldn’t say it was written for me, but when it came down to casting he wasn’t shopping it around to different actresses. I’m aware of having a baby face, and I wasn’t sure if that was going to be helpful playing a federal agent. But the thing I was most concerned with was physically walking, talking, and shooting — pulling off things so people could imagine I was this character.”

Despite her concerns, Elizabeth Olsen gave her best in the movie. The actress underwent three months of gun training with law enforcement veterans and took self-defense and martial art classes to match and fulfill the requirements of her character appearance in the movie.

In an interview, Elizabeth Olsen opened up about her experience working in Wind River and shared what appealed to her to play the role of an FBI agent in the movie. The actress said she focused on the physical aspect and trained hard to match her character’s appearance in the flick. She told Collider,

“There’s quite a bit that’s appealing when you read it, in comparison to the majority of scripts that I end up reading. It’s an opportunity to play a part that I would never foresee myself having written for me, to be able to just develop more skills. I loved the script so much. I trained a long time, I think it’s like six months, or three months of the gun and six months of self-defense and grappling and three months training for gun work with a former law enforcement officer.”

Taylor Sheridan-directed Wind River featuring Elizabeth Olsen and Jeremy Renner starrer movie earned critical acclaim and received positive reviews from fans and critics alike. The project grossed $45 million at the global box office.
