However, the award-winning filmmaker has no plans for a sequel, as when recently asked if there are any plans for a potential installment for her record-smashing project, to which she subtly denied, saying, “At this moment, it’s all I’ve got.”

As per reports, Warner Bros. Studios allegedly came up with a deal for a potential Barbie sequel before the movie hit theaters, but her reps put it off until the film’s released. Now that it is already close to hitting a $1 billion club movie, there might be possibilities for another adventurous project in Gerwig-created Barbieland.

The massive success of this movie has left many wondering if there will be a sequel. In a recent candid interview with New York Times, when asked if Barbie is a start of a franchise, to this the famous screenwriter said,

“At this moment, it’s all I’ve got. I feel like that at the end of every movie, like I’ll never have another idea and everything I’ve ever wanted to do, I did. I wouldn’t want to squash anybody else’s dream, but for me, at this moment, I’m at totally zero.”

As per reports, WB tried to seal a deal with Greta Gerwig before the flick was released, but her rep put it off.

In a candid interview, Greta Gerwig opened up about the overwhelming response her movie has received worldwide, with fans wearing all pink ensembles in theaters which have left her awed. She shared that it’s a whole new level of experience, saying,

“Honestly, I’m experiencing everything in real-time, and it is sort of mind-boggling. But it’s incredible because I’m also in New York City, and yesterday I started jumping around to theaters and turning up the volume at different show times. I was like, ‘I think we can add a DB. Let’s just keep going.’ But yeah, I mean, it’s amazing. Obviously, I’m here in New York City, but I’m like, ‘Oh, it’s everywhere.’ How fabulous and strange.”
