The video of the unfortunate incident when Oscar winner Will Smith slapped comedian Chris Rock is now a social media staple. The actor was promoting his film Father Stu, featuring Mark Wahlberg, in an interview with Fox News. During the conversation, the host, Jess Waters asked his guest,
“I was wondering if you had been the one that jumped up out of his seat and slapped Chris Rock if you would have been treated the same way?”
Mel Gibson chose to keep silent on the topic as he knew it was clickbait. His PR cut the interview and said that the discussion time was over.
Mel Gibson was last seen in the 2022 film On the Line. He will be next working in The Continental: From the World of John Wick, a limited series spin-off from the John Wick franchise. He will also star in sequels to his superhit films, Lethal Weapon 4 and The Passion of the Christ.
Will Smith and Chris Rock Controversy
The most popular, though unfortunate incident, occurred during the 94th Academy Awards on March 27, 2022. Men In Black star Will Smith walked up on the stage and slapped the comedian Chris Rock across the face. The actor had slapped Rock for joking about his wife Jada Pinkett Smith’s shaved head, which she has been doing since 2021 due to a rare illness.
Later in the evening, the actor was given the Best Actor award, and he apologized for his disruptive behavior. The next day, he also issued an apology to Rock and the Academy via social media platform. The actor resigned from his Academy membership on April 1 and got banned from attending Academy events for ten years. The incident received global attention, and the video of the incident had gone viral on social media. Will Smith received lots of flak on social media from his fans.
