In an interview when James Mangold was asked about his thoughts on Wolverine coming back in Deadpool 3, the Logan director made it very clear that he would have preferred the character not to come back in any movie. Mangold also stated that Ryan Reynolds’s movie is a prequel to Logan. While talking about Shawn Levy’s movie, the 59-year-old director said,

If it works, it works. And it’s not like the new movie Hugh and Ryan are working on takes place after Logan. So, in a sense, they’re just making a prequel, if you will.”

When Mangold was asked if Hugh Jackman will return to the role of Wolverine during another interview, the director of Knight and Day opened up about his thoughts regarding the character’s return. The filmmaker said,

“I can’t say that there’s a part of me that doesn’t wish that we’d let it be. But there was always going to be another Wolverine. There could be a baby Wolverine and a cartoon Wolverine. As much liquid as they can squeeze out of that rag, they’re going to try to. I don’t measure my success on a movie like Logan with whether we ended the conversation. I ended my conversation.”

Many Logan fans are excited to see Deadpool and Wolverine’s dynamic in the movie. Fans are coming up with many fan theories regarding the story of the upcoming 2024 movie and viewers are eager to see the 54-year-old actor reprise the part.
