“If it was Tom’s kids, everything stopped for that”: Tom Cruise Stopped Shooting His $358 Million Movie Without a Second Thought After a Minor Accident

Tom Cruise is often considered to be the face of Hollywood. After all, the $600 million net worth actor has starred in multiple hit films, the recent one being the $1.4 billion grossing Top Gun 2. The star is again expected to make a big splash with Mission: Impossible 7 soon. As such, one might think that he has trouble making time for his kids.

But that’s not true. According to Steven Spielberg, who worked with Tom Cruise on Minority Report (2002) which grossed $358 million worldwide, the Edge of Tomorrow actor is an active presence in his kids’ lives. In fact, he’s there for them even if he’s in the middle of shooting an important scene.

Tom Cruise is the father of three kids. He adopted Connor and Isabella with ex-wife Nicole Kidman and shares his only biological child, Suri, with ex-wife Katie Holmes. Steven Spielberg revealed in an interview that Cruise would be an active dad even while on set, even if he was in the middle of shooting a scene. The acclaimed director said in an interview with People magazine:

“There were times that I was about ready to say ‘Action,’ and the phone rang. If it was Tom’s kids, everything stopped for that. Just when he was preparing for probably the hardest scene he has in the whole movie, the phone rang. Anybody else would have looked up with anger in their eyes, but he immediately broke character and walked off and took the call…”

Spielberg revealed that the Collateral actor would be there for his kids no matter how minor the problem. He explained:

“Connor or Isabella had stuck an eraser in their eye or something like that. It was not serious, but Dad came to the rescue. I thought it was amazing. I have been known to say [when talking about his own kids], ‘I’ll call them back after the shot.'”

But does Tom Cruise have a good relationship with his daughter Suri? Apparently, the actor has slowly estranged himself from her after his divorce from Katie Holmes.

It looked like before Tom Cruise divorced Katie Holmes, he had a solid dad-daughter relationship with Suri. However, things apparently changed after that. It was alleged that he is estranged from Suri because she or her mother are not part of the Scientology church. In Touch Weekly reported in 2016 that Cruise hadn’t seen his daughter for more than two and a half years.

The outlet also reported that he still loves his daughter and hopes to repair their relationship one day.
