Despite her million-dollar fame and fortune, Jennifer Lawrence is among the few Hollywood A-listers with whom fans can easily relate. Well, that’s probably because the actress refuses to be affected by the glitz and glam of Tinseltown. Instead of letting the entertainment industry run her career, Lawrence claims to be the controller of her own growth.
Losing touch of her artistic side, when the actress got tossed like a pawn between studios, Jennifer Lawrence mentioned reevaluating her professional life. And apparently, that led the actress to take a break from Hollywood, after being overwhelmed with its dark side. Further, Lawrence made some comments about her career that deeply concerned her fans.
Jennifer Lawrence Reflects Upon The Hollywood Treatment
Jennifer Lawrence has always been fans’ favorite actress, ever since she appeared as Mystique in the X-Men franchise. However, nothing catapulted her fame like her appearance in The Hunger Games film series. Reprising her role as Katniss Everdeen, the actress appeared in three installments of the movie.
The size and scope associated with The Hunger Games skyrocketed Lawrence’s fame, overnight. Thereafter, becoming an instant celebrity, Lawrence started quickly doubling her fame and popularity by appearing in acclaimed projects and blockbusters. The actress thus appeared in the 2013 hit, Silver Linings Playbook, which even landed her an Oscar.
However, her fame somehow went out of control and fans started hounding Lawrence for photos and autographs. Thus, this spark of celebrity not only ruined her peace of mind but also destroyed her artistic nature. Thereafter, Hollywood turned into this toxic industry which started pushing Lawrence into the mainstream to churn out superhit films with the actress’ fame.
Jennifer Lawrence’s Concerning Comments About Hollywood
The Oscar-winning actress who came into the industry to explore her artistic side and take control of her career soon turned into Hollywood’s pawn, who started getting tossed between studios. That’s when Jennifer Lawrence took a break from her career and came up with her own production company. Venturing into the production business with her friend in 2018, Lawrence started Excellent Cadaver.
Feeling the urge to take back control of her career, Lawrence shared her vision for coming up with a production studio, during an interview with Vanity Fair. Stating how larger production studios were simply turning into money mongers rather than telling stories, the actress discussed taking her own initiative. Trying to appeal to a larger audience, Jennifer Lawrence explained, “It’s not like Drew Barrymore’s Flower Films”.
Upon being asked about her production company’s interest, the actress simply stated, “Well, that’s hard to answer, because if I answer honestly, I’m out of a job. I mean, haven’t we had enough stories about white women?” Thus, discussing her urge to portray diversity, Jennifer Lawrence mentioned narrating those stories that she was unable to play.
