The franchise chose to alleviate fans’ worries by replacing him with Alan Ritchson as it entered into small screens. In an interview, series author, Lee Child mentioned,
“There was criticism from the book fans, because they had built up a very clear image of what Reacher should look like… I think that the size thing is important to certain parts of the narrative. Reacher has got to scare people and you can do that so much easier with one glance of this huge animal rather than a normal-sized actor.”
He continued,
“Alright, we can get a much bigger guy, so the book fans are going to be happy.'”
Meanwhile, he also mentioned that fans who didn’t read the books were highly satisfied with Cruise’s performance. From his statement, it is crystal clear that Ritchman’s casting for the series is a great choice since he has an impressive height frame of 6’2. As for the Amazon Prime series’s star, he is aware of the opportunity he landed in.
Alan Ritchson Would Probably Quit Due to Tom Cruise
The Titans star is happy to be associated with the franchise and would love to get a ‘stamp of approval’ from his predecessor. He shared,
As to how he got in to follow Cruise’s footsteps, he told in another interview,
“The process was long and time-taking. It took almost a year. But enough people believe that I am the right choice to get the job and I am lucky that I did.”
The actor further revealed that he became the ‘biggest fan’ in one year while preparing for his role. He read all 24 books in eight months thus developing a strong interest in his role.
