Popularly known for portraying Saul Goodman in Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, Bob Odenkirk has had a prominent career as a comedic writer, actor, and series creator. Recently, he has been rumored to join one of the most popular superhero franchises. These rumors suggested that the actor could star as Simon Williams, aka Wonder Man’s agent, Neal Saroyan, in Marvel’s upcoming series. However, the actor denied the claim, saying that he’s not built for the superhero world.

While he is not interested in featuring in Marvel Cinematic Universe, he talked about the types of characters he likes to portray. The Breaking Bad actor also discussed the sequel to his 2021 film, Nobody, for which he took inspiration from Jackie Chan.

Jackie Chan Inspired Bob Odenkirk For Action Movies

During a Venice Film Festival masterclass in 2022, Bob Odenkirk shared his inspiration to do more action films after starring in Nobody. The 2021 action thriller follows Hutch Mansell, who fails to defend himself and his family after a home invasion, leading him to reveal his true character.

Considering that his role in Better Call Saul seemed one of action film characters, he joined the cast of Nobody. But he was “surprised” by the film and wanted to portray more characters like Hutch Mansell. The Lucky Hank star shared that he has been training multiple times a week, and fans can expect to see him in more such films.

Talking about his inspiration to feature in more action films, he said, “I found the action sequences a great deal of fun and close to doing sketch comedy.” Odenkirk further mentioned that he loved early Jackie Chan movies, which had action and humor in them, before saying, “I’d like to get that in future.”

During his recent interview, the Mr. Show star also talked about a sequel to the 2021 film, as he shared slight hints about it. The filming of Nobody 2 is expected to start this year.

Bob Odenkirk Denies Starring in the MCU

During his recent interview, Bob Odenkirk addressed rumors about him joining the MCU in the future. The Seinfeld actor shared that he is not interested in joining the superhero universe and would rather like to keep his work “grounded, relatable and smaller.” He said,

“I don’t think I’m built for that world. I’m built for characters that make you feel like that guy could live next door.”

He also reflected on how his character in Nobody is relatable and grounded. Odenkirk said Hutch is a family man, but he has a “different” relationship with violence. The 2021 film concluded with Hutch and his wife buying a new house and attempting a fresh start. However, the ending also seems to hint that there is more to come for Hutch Mansell.
