Tom Cruise has dominated the world for years with his movies absolutely crushing the cinemas. He and his movie are also credited for bringing back people to movie theatres after a decline due to the pandemic. Out of the many franchises he holds his name with, Mission: Impossible holds a special place in perhaps everyone’s hearts. Simon Pegg also respects just how big of an actor Cruise really is.
In fact, Pegg even chooses to respect the actor’s boundaries. This often leaves room between the two to have the best conversations. The two have worked together since the third movie of the Mission: Impossible franchise came out. The movies helped build a very comfortable relationship between the two actors.
Simon Pegg Understands Why Tom Cruise Loves His Fame
Simon Pegg opened up about his relationship with Tom Cruise and elaborated on how it was very important for him to understand the actor as a person. He focused on the fact that Cruise is very much a person outside of the rumors that surround him.
“It’s always been a very easy relationship. I think you realize, when you meet the person rather than the thicket of mythology that’s built up around them, it’s a different experience. I mean, he loves [the fame] and he really relishes it, it’s all he knows. It energizes him and spurs him on. I don’t think I would appreciate that particularly. I’d find it very stressful and overwhelming and it would make me want to retreat. I’m happy where I am.”
He gathered that while he would never be able to make himself accustomed to fame the size that Cruise has, the latter stands proud of it. It is no doubt that the Top Gun: Maverick actor admires the massive fame he has. Pegg admitted that he would only go down a path that would make him want to step out of acting rather than go deep into it.
Simon Pegg Does Not Touch The Topic Of The Church Of Scientology
Simon Pegg understands that Tom Cruise has his own set of beliefs. Cruise is very open about his trust in the Church of Scientology. While that is a topic he often talks about, The Boys actor does not wish to even address the subject when in his presence.
“That would be me abusing my privileged access that I get to him.”
To Pegg, talking about religious beliefs becomes an invasion of the actor’s privacy, one which he chooses to respect. They talk about the most bizarre things that would prove just how iconic Cruise really is. This is surprisingly not limited to the fact that one random morning all of the cast of the movie decided to go diving with sharks.
