Robert Pattinson has now portrayed several different roles that not only strengthened his acting portfolio but also helped him in getting away from the extreme Twilight franchise fandom. It is well known that he portrayed the role of Edward Cullen, a cold-blooded vampire whose die-hard fandom somewhat made his life extremely difficult.
Robert Pattinson Was Unemployed After Harry Potter Cameo
“I really like that movie,” he shared on The HFPA In Conversation podcast in 2019. “I wouldn’t be acting professionally if it wasn’t for that movie.”
However, his journey ahead was quite bumpy.
“I’d been unemployed for ages, and when I came to Los Angeles all the casting directors would ask what I’d been doing for the past few years.”
He recalled that he was unemployed for two years hence to break the pattern, he shifted to Los Angeles which is when he decided to deceive casting directors to get some gigs.
Robert Pattinson Used English Accent to Make a Good Impression
He told Mirror that he faked an impressive resume to impress casting directors into believing that he attended London’s prestigious Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (Rada) and Oxford University. He also spoke English accent to get away from getting caught.
“I’d say, ‘Oh, I was at Rada’ — if you’ve got an English accent you can get away with it. I’d say I went to Oxford, too. I did it for years.”
However, this situation changed when he noticed many English people migrating to Los Angeles. He changed his strategy and pretended to be American.
“But it didn’t work when loads of English people started moving to Los Angeles. So then I pretended to be American for a bit.”
He continued to pretend to be American when he debuted in the Twilight franchise but eventually put an end to it.
“When Twilight came out I still tried to pretend to be American but people thought I was insane, so I stopped.”
