Christopher Nolan Got Candid About Taking on The Star Wars Project
The 52-year-old actor, Christopher Nolan in a 2017 interview with the Daily Beast opened up about the “incredible nature of that experience” while watching 1977’s Star Wars for the first time as a kid.
He shared about how he always wanted to let his audience have an enthralling experience across the universe and would want to try the same. At the time, the franchise had released the second installment of the Star Wars sequel trilogy, Star Wars: The Last Jedi.
On asking whether he was approached or interested in helming the project, he replied,
“I’m pretty excited to see what J.J. (J.J. Abrams) is going to do with that. I’m excited to see that he’s shooting on film and actually built the Millennium Falcon. As far as whether or not I would have ever done it, the truth is I think I’d be afraid to touch it!”
He continued to share,
“He’s boldly going where he went before in Star Trek, and it takes colossal balls.”
He shared about being more comfortable in exploring his own concept rather than “carrying the weight and expectation of the entire world—particularly 40-somethings like me who live and die with each new bit of information about Star Wars.”
While he would not want to helm the film, he opened up about looking forward to what Abrams did in the film.
Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Trilogy is Considered a Terrific Series!
Nolan’s The Dark Knight trilogy was a major achievement in the Batman franchise especially the fact that the filmmaker has given enough depth to its characters. The film gave significant importance to the story as the action sequences which is required in a superhero film.
While superhero films always try to give a light tone to the film, Nolan tried his best to use overly dark, gritty, or serious elements that made this trilogy efficiently great. Even the villains that were introduced in the film gave their best to showcase the terror it needed to develop the superhero subtly. Those minor yet important elements helped the franchise back into the market once again.
