Tom Cruise and Hayley Atwell were a thing once upon a time. Allegedly. Neither of them have really come forward to confirm this. However, it’s confirmed that the two of them are starring together in Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part One. The trailers have indicated a possible romantic connection between their characters as well.
So did this romance spill over into their real life? There’s no way to tell for sure. But recently, Atwell did admit that Cruise acted like the perfect gentleman towards one of the most important people in her life- her grandmother, and took her on a helicopter ride.
Hayley Atwell Gushed Over Tom Cruise’s Generous Helicopter Ride Offer
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Hayley Atwell disclosed something her Mission Impossible co-star Tom Cruise did for her grandmother. She said that the Top Gun star planned a surprise helicopter ride for her grandma. Since Atwell’s grandma is afraid of helicopters and is determined to never get into one so she wasn’t informed beforehand. Atwell feared that she would decline the ride.
However, it looks like nan wouldn’t have been in the mood to decline once Cruise came with the helicopter. The Avengers: Endgame star explained:
“We surprised her and Tom came walking around the car. It was so sweet because my grandmother was like, ‘Hiya, Tom, how are you darling?!’ and talked to him like he was one of her own. Then he said, ‘I would love to take you on the helicopter, on a ride of London,’ And she was like, ‘Oh, fantastic! Yes, I’ll just put me walking stick down here!’”
Apart from this, Atwell also talked about the Knight and Day star’s commitment to making films. She also said that he views movies with a childlike wonder.
Hayley Atwell Complimented Tom Cruise For His Insane Work Ethic And Love For Films
Hayley Atwell admitted her deep admiration of Tom Cruise for his dedication to the Mission Impossible franchise as well as the art of filmmaking. The Agent Carter star said that the star always aims to create a cinematic experience for all. As per her:
“He’s (Tom Cruise) a one-man studio. There is nothing this man doesn’t know about movie-making and the cinematic experience for the audience. It’s deeply inspiring to find someone who is so committed to something, whose work ethic extends to so many different departments. For me, he remains a real inspiration as a professional, dedicated, enthusiastic guy, whose own success has never been his demise.”
The actress even confessed that she has never seen anyone like Cruise and even boldly claimed that “There’s never been anyone like him and never will be.” Even though Atwell will be in the first part of Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning, there’s no way to tell if she will find a place in the second one. As such, it will be interesting to see where her character goes.
Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part One will be released on 12 July 2023.
