Working alongside Jennifer Aniston is a dream come true for any actor. After all, the Friends star is a Hollywood veteran and is known to be a friendly co-star behind the scenes. However, Jay Mohr probably can’t relate to this. As per the actor, who starred alongside Aniston in Picture Perfect, the leading lady wasn’t happy with his presence on the sets. But why would America’s sweetheart be nasty to an actor just doing his job? Allegedly, it was because of her boyfriend.

Picture Perfect (1997) grossed $44 million on an $18 million budget. The rom-com was a success and should have been a good memory for everyone involved. But not for the leading man, Jay Mohr, and it was all due to Jennifer Aniston not wanting him in the movie at all. In a 2010 interview with Elle magazine, Mohr spilled all the details on how much of a pain it was to work on that film.

As per the actor:

“Being on the set of a movie where the leading woman was unhappy with my presence and made it clear from day one. I hadn’t done many movies, and even though they screen-tested some pretty famous guys, I somehow snaked into the leading role. The actress said, ‘No way! You’ve got to be kidding me!’ Loudly. Between takes. To other actors on set. I would literally go to my mom’s house and cry.”

This isn’t the only instance where the American comedian has talked about the mistreatment he suffered at the hands of Aniston. In his Mohr Stories podcast, he said that Aniston’s rebukes began on the very first day of rehearsals. As per the actor:

“(Aniston said) ‘Six guys they screen-test! SIX … The one f*****g guy I hate, that’s the guy they hire. HIM!'”

As per Mohr, it went on for the whole day and at the end, Mohr said in his podcast that “Aniston was so f*****g mean to me.” But why was the actress so miffed about Mohr being cast as the leading man? Apparently, she was heartbroken over her then-boyfriend, Tate Donovan, not being cast in the role.

As per IMDb, the reason why Jennifer Aniston was annoyed at Mohr was due to her boyfriend at the time, Tate Donovan, not bagging the part opposite hers. As per IMDb:

“Matthew Broderick, Jon Stewart, John Corbett, and William Baldwin all screen tested for the role of Nick. Jennifer Aniston pushed for her then-boyfriend Tate Donovan to assume the role, and was unhappy when Jay Mohr was ultimately cast.”

While Aniston and Donovan didn’t get to work together on Picture Perfect, they did get their chance on Friends. In the show, the two of them dated each other’s characters, but unfortunately, it was at a time when the actors were going through a breakup. In an interview with US magazine, Donovan said:

“I was just happy to be on the team. The only bummer was Jennifer and I were breaking up at the time. So that was tricky to sort of act, and act like we are just meeting each other, and falling in love, or whatever, interested in each other, when we’re sort of breaking up. That was just tough.”

However, Donovan said that the cast on the show didn’t treat him poorly for this. He complimented them for being compassionate and helpful. As for Jay Mohr, he has moved on from the incident that happened more than two decades ago.
