Comedian/actor Tiffany Haddish has endured a lot recently. The actor has built a successful career as an actor following her stand-up journey. But she disclosed her personal life in a recent interview with The Washington Post.
Revealing her most personal details, the actor revealed that she had had eight miscarriages on top of a painful breakup. The Haunted Mansion actor said that she had never disclosed her personal life candidly in public before.
Tiffany Haddish Had Eight Miscarriages
Tiffany Haddish has opened up about her personal life. “Well I’m going to be honest with you,” the actor said in an interview with The Washington Post published July 24, adding that “this would be my eighth miscarriage.” The actor also revealed that she has “got a uterus shaped like a heart. It just won’t keep anything in.” A heart-shaped uterus is a medical condition that is shaped like an upside-down pear instead of the common round-shaped uterus.
Earlier, the actor revealed on Rachel Bilson’s Broad Ideas podcast that she had several miscarriages in the past. “That has a lot to do with the endometriosis and misdiagnosis and all that stuff,” she told Bilson. “Those miscarriages were as painful as a motherf**ker,” she added.
“I feel like a piece of my soul died every time. I don’t know if I am capable and I feel like that was God’s birth control telling me, ‘He is not the one. That is not who you are supposed to be having a baby with.'”
The 43-year-old further revealed to The Post that she had kept it quiet because she didn’t want people saying:
“‘Are you OK? Are you alright?’ Like a wounded animal, I just rather go in a cave by myself. Lick my wounds.”
Haddish’s break-up with rapper Common was also painful, she revealed in the interview saying it was not as mutual as the rapper claimed.
Tiffany Haddish Wants to Be a Mother
Haddish has considered becoming a mother through adoption, she told the Post, further sharing that the actor even took a parenting class last year. However, in 2021, the actor revealed that her adoption process clashed with her work schedule. The Night School actor felt that she needs to be more focused while raising a kid. “I feel when you take a child [in], you really need to be able to focus on them,” Haddish told Us Weekly once.
“I want to raise it. I want to raise the child. I want to give the child my knowledge and my love. So I want to finish up a few more things, so that I can really focus. It’s one thing to have a dog and a garden and take care of that. But to have another human being that needs me and that I’m responsible for. I want to be present. I want to be all the way present. I don’t want somebody else doing that work.”
Further, Haddish revealed that she is “looking at five and up, really like seven” years old kids for adoption as she wants them to know that she puts in the work and she wants them as well.
Haddish will appear in Justin Simien-directed fantasy comedy Haunted Mansion alongside Jared Leto, LaKeith Stanfield, and Owen Wilson. Haunted Mansion is scheduled to release on 28 July 2023.
