Both of them are global stars but the former’s career is marred with accusations of racism as well as serving jail time. While Holland is the internet’s picture-perfect boyfriend.
No one ever quite thought they would see Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg star together in a film. But that indeed happened in Uncharted. However, the two of them hadn’t met in the film. They were actually introduced to each other in 2017 and Wahlberg gave the then-young star terrible advice.
Mark Wahlberg’s Terrible Advice To Tom Holland During Their First Meeting
Mark Wahlberg and Tom Holland first met during the taping of The Graham Norton Show in 2017. Wahlberg was promoting Transformers: The Last Knight while Holland was there to talk about Spider-Man: Homecoming. It was the MCU actor’s first solo outing as the character. So as the new kid on the block, Holland was ready to get any kind of advice to navigate Hollywood and fame.

However, the kind of advice he got probably wasn’t too helpful. The Mile 22 star told Holland:
“You haven’t been to jail, have you? … I went to jail before I had a career. [You’re] going to go to jail at some point during your career. Don’t take any advice from me. The first check I got, I ran to the Mercedes dealer. I bought a car, I didn’t have money for registration or insurance. Police towed the vehicle because I was driving without insurance.”
Mark Wahlberg went to prison for assaulting Johnny Trinh, a Vietnamese man in 1988. He was accused of hurling racist slurs at the victim before beating him up with his friends. As a result, he was charged with attempted murder first. But later on, it was reduced to only criminal contempt and he was given two years of jail time.
However, the actor only served 45 days before getting released on parole. Since then, he has seemingly turned his life around and even sought forgiveness from the family of his victim. Regarding the interview, he gave more anecdotes of his life. In what seemed like verbal diarrhea, he talked about buying a hot tub and getting a card to buy medical marijuana.
Overall, the star ended his advice by saying, “Have some fun. … You’re a young, good-looking guy. Go have some fun.” Holland’s fans aren’t sure the star had to be told that specifically. But they did appreciate him calling Holland his favorite Spidey.
Mark Wahlberg Clarified That Tom Holland Is His Favorite Spider-Man Among The Big 3
While promoting their film, Uncharted, Mark Wahlberg said in an interview with Yahoo! that his favorite Spider-Man was Holland and it had remained so over the years. He had said:
“I could tell you for a fact, the first time I met Tom, I met him at The Graham Norton Show, and I told him he was by far the best Spider-Man and I said that then and I’m saying it now. So they had to come and pay respects to Tom, who’s elevating it a lot.”
Spider-Man: No Way Home brought together Tom Holland, Andrew Garfield, and Tobey Maguire’s Peter Parkers. The collaboration between the three shook the box office with $1.9 billion. While it can’t be denied that it was Holland’s film throughout, Maguire and Garfield’s presence did vastly elevate the film.
