Talking about the role of Harvey Dent aka Two-Face, Christopher Nolan had initially offered the role to Matt Damon which he refused. Following this refusal, Damon worked for the second time alongside Nolan on the sets of Oppenheimer. In an interview, the actor let it slip that he had slightly offended the director with his remarks.

Recalling the time he had just finished reading the script, Matt Damon stated that he simply had no words while Emily Blunt gave a meticulous answer to Christopher Nolan. The hilarious conversation left Nolan a little bit offended and Damon a little bit on edge.

“By the end of the script, I was totally overwhelmed. And I kind of offended Chris because he came over and he said, ‘what’d you think?’ And I just kinda blurted out, ‘I have no notes.’ Which was, to me, the greatest thing you could say to another writer… Like ‘I have nothing to say, this is amazing.'”

The Interstellar actor further continued,

“But when Emily met with him like a week later, she was effusive in her praise and very articulate and he was like, “That’s better than what I got from Matt, I just got ‘he had no notes.’”

Although he refused the role of Harvey Dent in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight, Damon vowed to never repeat that mistake again. As per the reports, Matt Damon felt grateful that he was able to join Nolan for the 2014 movie Interstellar.

Matt Damon had originally refused the role of Harvey Dent because he felt that it was a pretty minor role. Quickly realizing his mistake, the actor remarked that as long as the movie and the story are good it shouldn’t matter. He was later cast in Christopher Nolan’s 2014 movie Interstellar and he felt quite grateful to the director for it.

“Sometimes you look at a role, it’s good, it’s a good role in a great movie— I subsequently did a small role in one of Christopher Nolan’s movies in ‘Interstellar.’ I wanted to be part of that troupe, he works with the same actors over and over again, but I wanted to be on that ride.”

With both roles big and small, Matt Damon is all set to star alongside Cillian Murphy and Robert Downey Jr. when Nolan’s Oppenheimer releases on 21st July 2023 in theaters across the U.S.
