Clint Eastwood is a fan of Quentin Tarantino’s 1994 movie, Pulp Fiction
Pulp Fiction (1994) is undoubtedly one of Quentin Tarantino‘s best works and Clint Eastwood agrees. Back in 1994, when the movie was played at the Cannes Film Festival, the jury president was Eastwood. In an interview with American Film Institute, he explained,
“We sat there and watched it and it sort of drew everybody in pretty well…I was amazed, it was the European guys on the jury that really jumped up…a couple of them turned around and said ‘That’s the best picture, that’s the picture of this festival.'”
Eastwood further explained that he didn’t excitedly jump like other guys on the jury but instead, he was “still weighing things in my mind.” He added,
“It’s definitely interesting and it was exciting and it came at a time when we needed a little excitement… when they got into the jury room, everyone was unanimous that that would be the picture.”
Pulp Fiction was nominated for several Academy Awards. The movie’s cast included some big names like John Travolta, Uma Thurman, Samuel L. Jackson, and Harvey Keitel.
Quentin Tarantino also praised Clint Eastwood’s work
In a 2019 interview with The Spectator, Quentin Tarantino talked about Eastwood’s performance in the 1966 movie, The Good, the Bad and the Ugly,
“There is realism in his presentation of the Civil War in The Good, the Bad and the Ugly that was missing from all the Civil War movies that happened before him. Wild and grandiose as it was, there was never a sentimental streak.”
The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly is considered to be one of the best movies of all time. It was revealed that Clint Eastwood refused to turn up for work until writer and director Sergio Leone agreed to his demand of a $250,000 fee, plus a new Ferrari. The movie earned $38.9 million at the global box office on a budget of $1.6 million
