It’s hard to name a better duo than Brad Pitt and George Clooney, who’s starred in six films together and are heading for their 7th collaboration in the upcoming film titled Wolves. But before the duo joined forces to star in some of the biggest hits of the 2000s, Clooney almost got his first big breakthrough before his great friend through 1991’s Thelma & Louise.

Thelma & Louise is generally considered one of Ridley Scott’s most underrated films, which pushed Brad Pitt’s career to new heights. However, his close friend Clooney was also in the discussion to lead the film, before Geena Davis vouched for the Seven star.

Brad Pitt surpassed George Clooney to star in Thelma & Louis 

The Geena Davis-led Thelma & Louis might not be the biggest role of Brad Pitt‘s illustrious career, but it surely remains one of his most important ones, as it pushed him to Stardom. But before Pitt landed the role in the Ridley Scott film, there were other frontrunners, which also involved his close friend George Clooney, who was also in the middle of finding his footing in Hollywood at the time.

But considering Oscar-winning star Geena Davis had a say in the selection for the male lead, she vouched for the Seven star, claiming she was left in awe by the actor’s charm. She recalled,

“The fourth one who comes in is Brad Pitt, and he’s so charismatic and so incredibly talented that I was, like, screwing up his audition. I’d forget to say my lines.”

However. this did work out for both of Ocean’s Eleven Stars’ careers, as after losing the role, Clooney would find himself leading the TV series, ER, playing the iconic Dr Ross.

Currently being directed by Spider-Man: Far From Home director Jon Watts, the upcoming Wolves starring, George Clooney and Brad Pitt is also being co-produced by the duo. And following their time shooting the upcoming film, it appears the two are having a blast, as reports claim the two ‘s bromance is tighter than ever. One source stated,

“Brad and George’s lifelong bromance is in tighter than ever, and they are tearing up New York City together – having a blast and causing some mischief.”
