Manganiello became a household name after portraying Flash Thompson in Sam Raimi-directed 2002 superhero film Spider-Man.

Joe Manganiello Reflected Upon His Meeting With The Film Director
In a previous interview, Joe Manganiello opened up about his experience losing the Superman role in the Man of Steel movie and recalled his meeting with Zack Snyder. The actor claimed that he had an hours-long meeting with Snyder, saying,
“I met with Zack. I had an hour-and-a-half-long meeting with Zack, which is what was causing all the trouble. I went ahead and met with casting, and they all brought me over to meet Zack. I met the producers, and I met everybody — everybody involved.”
He continued,
“Then finally sat down with Zack for an hour and a half and had a big conversation about the character and where it was going, et cetera. Then they called the True Blood costume shop for my measurements to build my suit, and that’s what caused — that’s when it stopped.”
The True Blood star further stated that he was shocked to learn that he had lost one of the most loved roles, “I’m a sensitive guy. I was rocked by the whole thing.”
Joe Manganiello lost the role to Henry Cavill but has since played significant parts on the silver screen. In 2020 he mentioned that he is working on some fascinating forthcoming projects with the director and that plenty more stuff will be coming up in the near future.
