Ryan Reynolds is one of those actors, who stepped into Hollywood with no backup plan – either it was acting, or nothing. Before his $1.5 billion success with the Deadpool franchise, the actor underwent a long wave of turbulence, following the disastrous $200 Million Blake Lively movie. At one point, he even decided to quit acting.
Ryan Reynold’s Career Fumbled After Representing The Death Of Superheroes!
Ryan Reynold’s Green Lantern, also starring Blake Lively as Carol Ferris became the biggest box office bomb in history. The defeat was so big that Reynolds himself admitted representing the “death of superheroes” after the 2011 flop.
In an interview on Variety’s Actors on Actors, the Deadpool actor revealed:
“I represented the death of the superhero for a while. After Green Lantern, I was pretty much unhireable.”
Thankfully, Green Lantern, which grossed only $220 million against a production budget of $200 million, didn’t mark the end of his career. Reynolds found massive success with the X-Men films Deadpool (2016) and Deadpool 2 (2018), becoming the face of a $1.2 billion franchise.
The year 2017, however, came as a big moment for The Adam Project actor, as he was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Ryan Reynolds is set to reprise his wisecracking mutant mercenary role in Deadpool 3, which is scheduled to release on September 6, 2024.
Ryan Reynolds Found Blake Lively During The Darkest Crease
Ryan Reynolds has been extremely vocal about his massive defeat with a movie like Green Lantern. Even though the actor’s career went for a toss for a while, the actor’s friendship with Blake Lively turned into an everlasting love story as the actors tied the knot in 2012. Reynolds famously poked fun at the ill-fated movie:
“I met Blake on the darkest crease in the a*us of the universe called Green Lantern. And we were friends and buddies and then, about a year and a half later, we actually went out on a double date, but we were dating separate people.
But it was during their trip to Boston, that Reynolds begged Lively to sleep with him, and this is how one of Hollywood’s most iconic couples was born. The two have remained together since 2012, and share four adorable children.
