Due to this, the movie’s production was delayed and Pitt’s good friend Edward Norton also backed out. The movie’s director Kevin Macdonald was so angry at the Fight Club actor that he threatened to sue Brad Pitt. After quickly finding a replacement, the director stated that he held no grudges and considered himself lucky that it didn’t work out with Pitt.

Kevin Macdonald Was Lucky It Didn’t Work Out With Brad Pitt!

Based on the 2003 drama series of the same name, Kevin Macdonald directed the 2009 movie State of Play. Brad Pitt was cast in the lead role of a lonely journalist while his dear friend Edward Norton was slated to portray the role of a politician.

After some changes to the original script, the creative difference between Macdonald and Pitt was enough for the latter actor to quit the movie. This caused a delay in the production of the movie and as a result, Edward Norton too, walked off the sets. Macdonald blamed it entirely on Brad Pitt and even threatened to sue the actor that was until he found Russell Crowe for the lead role.

After the movie finished and was released, Kevin Macdonald revealed that he had no grudges for Pitt but was actually glad that it didn’t work out.

“In a way, I was lucky it didn’t work out with Brad. The relationship between the journalist and the politician was meant to be between somebody who feels inferior, who’s a bit of a sclump, who kind of can’t get a girlfriend, and somebody he’s looking up to and admires – his polished political friend.”

With Pitt’s departure, the role was ultimately passed on to Russell Crowe and Ben Affleck alongside Rachel McAdams and Helen Mirren joining the project.

With Pitt already going through a legal case for quite some time now, fans had hoped that the battle between the Bullet Train actor and his ex-wife Angelina Jolie would have finally reached an ending point. As per some insiders, it has been remarked that the battle is far from over!

“The war is far from over. Angie [Angelia Jolie] can’t help herself. She still wants payback for Brad’s part in ruining their marriage. Meanwhile, he [Brad Pitt] has been sober and much more clearheaded about where they both went wrong, so he’s refusing to back down anymore. He’s had enough and won’t just roll over and give Angelina what she wants,”

The duo has been fighting for the ownership of their shared property Chateau Miraval as the court dates keep on piling up for the duo.

As for the Russell Crowe starrer, State of Play is available to stream on Starz Apple TV Channel across the U.S.
