Channing Tatum Once Risked His Life For This Bizarre Reason
Channing Tatum is a magnificent actor. He has often left his fans awe-struck with his incredible acting chops. Whether playing bold and challenging roles or doing insane physical transformations for his on-screen characters, the actor has steadily built an impressive filmography.
In an interview, the 43-year-old actor once revealed that while filming his 2011 epic historical drama The Eagle, he nearly suffered a mishap on the set. He claimed that he was shooting under intense cold weather, and to keep warm, crew members were pouring hot water under their pants, so when someone handed him a cup of warm water, he burnt his private parts unknowingly.
On The Howard Stern Show, the actor recalled:
“It was freezing out, the way I understand it. It was so cold that some of the guys would take warm water and pour it down their pants. Some a**hole handed you the cup of warm water that you could pour down your pants, except he forgot to tell you that it was scalding hot.”
He continued,
“I started hyperventilating and screaming, jumping back into the river because it was a hypothermic river. We had wetsuits on, which was the worst part about it.”
This anecdote shows how dangerous and uncomfortable acting jobs can be, and how, behind the facade of fame and glamour, actors often put their lives at risk to bring their best to the projects they are involved with.
Channing Tatum Talks About His Experience Working on The Eagle
In a candid interview, Channing Tatum opened up about his experience working in Kevin Macdonald-directed 2011 film The Eagle. The actor played the character of a young Roman centurion named Marcus Flavius Aquila. Tatum shared that shooting under the harsh cold weather of Scotland was very tough, saying,
“Don’t go there in the winter. Do not do that. Don’t go to the Highlands at all in the winter unless you want to be cold and alone and rained on. It’s so romantic though. It’s so beautiful. And because I think it’s so violent and kind of unforgiving, there’s no reason to be there unless you do want solitude.”
Talking about his experience working with the film director Kevin Macdonald, the actor said,
“As a kid, Braveheart and Gladiator are two of my favorite movies of all time. So yes, it’s full fantasy, but really I came to the movie because of Kevin Macdonald. Kevin is by far one of the better filmmakers that is out right now or is ever to come. This script has a very interesting structure to it. It’s not your normal thing.”
Channing Tatum is a versatile star performer whose extraordinary acting approach has earned him armloads of accolades. His cinematic contributions to American cinema are inspiring to say the least. The prolific actor has played strong characters across multi-genre, blockbuster, mind-bending projects.
