Hugh Grant is an actor and a charmer. He has worked in movies that have won the hearts of fans time and time again. It would be no surprise to see him star in a movie even in a side role and still manage to steal the show. His charisma in movies is unbeatable and no matter what genre they may be in, his will be the smile that catches everyone’s eye.
His career has seen both ups and downs, much like his personal life. There have been movies he heavily adored and there have been films he despised with every cell in his body. Even with such a lengthy and successful career, the actor had a lot of regrets in his life, especially when it came to the direction his acting career went in.

Hugh Grant Got Type Casted As The Romantic Hero
One fear almost every actor has is to be type casted. Actors can fear being limited to only romance movies or action movies, becoming a villain only, or even just a bombshell to please the male gaze. Hugh Grant found himself in a similar position to becoming a romantic hero.
“I was being paid tons of money,” Grant stated. “I was very lucky. And most of those romantic comedies I can look squarely in the face- one or two are shockers, but on the whole, I can look them in the face and people like them. I’m a big believer that our job is to entertain.”
The actor focused on how he found himself making more and more wrong decisions when it came to the roles he picked and the movies he made. They were all of the same genre and he was doing the exact same thing again and again. He never liked that and was sure that had he not found himself in those roles, he would have been much happier. He extremely regretted not having found range when it was the best opportunity to do so. Grant wanted to explore genres and character types but only strayed further away from that.
Hugh Grant Did Not Trust Himself
Hugh Grant also added that one problem he faced while filming, regardless of the role was the amount of effort he put into the practicing time period. He admitted to having an issue with not trusting himself to the point where he would practice the lines up to the point where they did not seem natural at all.
“If I knew how to trust myself, I would have been much more relaxed.”
He claimed himself to be a terrible actor who was in the process of learning. He termed it as a process that was never ending and he pushed himself too hard much too often.
