Unlike many Marvel stars, Brie Larson is not a very pleasing name for superhero franchise fans. Ever since her MCU debut with the 2019 film Captain Marvel, fans have openly expressed their disapproval of the actress or her Marvel character. However, that might not be the case for her co-stars, as she is reported to be very close friends with the Black Widow actress Scarlett Johansson. They met while working on the 2013 romantic comedy-drama Don Jon and grew even closer while working in the MCU.
However, Johansson seemed disappointed when her friend and the MCU co-star did not remember their first meeting. The awkward conversation soon turned into an embarrassing moment for Larson after Johansson stated that she did not notice the star of the 2013 movie while starring alongside her.
Brie Larson Forgot How She Met Scarlett Johansson
After making her MCU debut with the 2019 film Captain Marvel, Brie Larson joined the cast of Avengers: Endgame, where she had the opportunity to work with Scarlett Johansson for a second time. However, she seemed to have forgotten it during her appearance on The Ellen Show.
As the co-stars joined the comedian on her talk show, she asked how the two met for the first time. Seeing Larson’s reaction to the question, Johansson asked her if she remembered how they met. When confronted about the same, the Room actress said, “At dinner,” forgetting about the 2013 movie.
It was followed by an embarrassing moment for Larson as the Don Jon star stated that they first met while working on the 2013 movie. Recalling her time working with the 33-year-old actress, Johansson said, “Clearly, it made an impression on me, but somebody else didn’t care.”
After she mentioned that they worked together, Larson justified herself by saying,
“I didn’t think about that. I just felt like I was basically a glorified extra, and you were Scarlett Johansson.”
However, unlike her expectations, Johansson shared that she noticed Larson despite having only a few scenes together.
Scarlett Johansson Was Happy to Work With Brie Larson
Scarlett Johansson was the only female member among the Avengers initially in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. So, when more actresses like Brie Larson and Danai Gurira joined the cast of the cinematic universe, it was a “huge relief” for the Black Widow actress. She said,
“It’s a huge relief for me because, you can only imagine, a decade ago when we started all this, it was a major testosterone festival. It was me and the dudes and the locker room banter.”
She shared that she did have Elizabeth Olsen and Cobie Smulders’ respective characters, and she was grateful to have two more women in the cast, along with several other great actors. The Fast X actress is set to reprise her Marvel role in the upcoming film The Marvels.
The Marvels is set to release on 10 November 2023.
