Zack Snyder broke the internet when he recently released a teaser for his upcoming magnum opus Rebel Moon. With the whole world talking about it, Snyder has already in mind, a project that will delight the fans even more, if adapted properly.
In an interview, the director talked about how he always wanted to convert the Halo franchise into a film series. Since that project never took flight, Zack Snyder turned his attention towards another fan-favorite game titled Gears of War.
Zack Snyder Wants To Make a Gears of War Movie With Dave Bautista
Snyder has already proven himself to be a master at his art. With outstanding movies like Man of Steel and 300, the director knows how to adapt any project quite beautifully. Turning his head from comic books, the director now wants to adapt video games into his projects and he has an avid supporter by his side.
In an interview with IGN, the director talked about his hopes for adapting the iconic Microsoft franchise, Halo, into a project. The director also added that he also has a plan in mind to adapt the $1 billion video-game franchise into a full-blown project. The video game in talks is the Gears of War franchise.
“Well, there are a lot. I mean, we’ve talked about a bunch of… You know, Gears has always come up, sort of in our sort of circle. So, I was a fan of the game, so, off the top of my head, that one. I was [also] always interested in the Halo franchise… They of course kind of made that, but it was something I always thought could be incredible.”
The director’s voice reached the creator of the Gears of War franchise Cliff Bleszinski and he tweeted out in support of the director. But, despite the fact that Dwayne Johnson may be the biggest action movie star around right now, nothing can come between Dave Bautista and his love for gaming. And the Gears of War creator knew it too. Bleszinski took to his Twitter to state that he would approve the adaptation but on a single condition.
And it just so happens, that Dave Bautista has been championing the role of Marcus Fenix for quite some time even before Zack Snyder put out his idea. In an interview with Variety, Bautista revealed that he threw his name in the hat and is really hoping that he will get a call soon.
Dave Bautista Wants To Be a Part of Zack Snyder’s Franchise
Having worked together in the 2021 movie Army of the Dead, Bautista and Snyder developed a good rapport over the time they spent filming. Hoping that Snyder would pick him if the Gears of War franchise would ever develop, Dave Bautista revealed that he is hoping for his phone to ring with the opportunity. In the Variety interview, the MCU actor claimed:
“I really hope they will [call me]. It’s a part that I’ve sought after for years and I feel like I could bring a lot of heart to Marcus Fenix. I really would. I think I would do that part justice. I feel confident in it, so hopefully it’ll come my way and we’ll be having this conversation in a different way sometime.”
Although nothing has been confirmed yet, it would indeed be a pleasure for people to witness Zack Snyder adapting a fan-favorite video game franchise with Bautista starring in the lead. As for now, the reports remain ideas and speculations.
