It is not an over-exaggeration when they say that a majority of people find Rainn Wilson’s The Office to be their favorite sitcom. The series got some massive praise and won awards on a back-to-back basis. Throughout its run, it may have seen ups and downs, but that never let the fans think that it was in any way not an iconic show.
The series brought a lot of fame to basically every actor involved in the series in some way or another. Whether it was simple recognition, praise or massive fame in the film industry, everyone got their fair share. However, not everyone can be happy with what they have and some reach out to want more. The act of wanting more is something natural to human nature and seems to be a never-ending process. The concept of satisfaction-dissatisfaction relates to it. Rainn Wilson seems to understand that more than anyone else.
The Office Star Rainn Wilson Wanted More Than What He Got
It is not uncommon to see some actors rise more than others when it comes to sitcoms. Not everyone can be at equal pacing and that is normal. Examples of that are all over the media. From Jake Johnson in New Girl to Andy Samberg in Brooklyn Nine-Nine, there are always some that find fame and grab it. While others might not be able to find that opportunity.
“I’m on one of the great TV shows. People love it. I wasn’t enjoying it. I was thinking about, ‘Why am I not a movie star? Why am I not the next Jack Black or the next Will Ferrell? How come I can’t have a movie career? Why don’t I have this development deal?’”
Something similar happened with Rainn Wilson in The Office as he saw his co-stars rising up the way he wanted to but couldn’t. John Krasinski, Steve Carell, and quite a few other cast members rose up and found themselves in the film industry, something Wilson could not. He was not happy about it either.
Rainn Wilson Wanted To Earn Millions
Rainn Wilson addressed that he was not very happy for quite a long time when he was filming The Office. Despite earning so much, and winning various accolades, the actor wanted more. He wanted to star on the big screen and he wanted his name in movies, not just television shows.
“When I was on The Office, I was clutching and grasping at, okay, I was making hundreds of thousands. I wanted millions, and I was a TV star, but I wanted to be a movie star. It was never enough. Humans have lived for hundreds of thousands of years, and ‘never enough’ has helped us as a species.”
The entire time, he wanted to earn millions instead of the thousands that he was earning. This was one regret he could not shake off.
