Surprising fans with his comments on taking a break from acting amidst health risks, Chris Hemsworth once again addressed the rumors surrounding his career. In an earlier interview with Vanity Fair, Hemsworth revealed that he was diagnosed with a gene that makes him eight to ten times more susceptible to developing Alzheimer’s disease. Concerned about his family if his worst fear comes true, the Thor actor further stated that he was looking to take an extended break in order to spend more time with his children and wife.
However, claiming that his words were blown out of proportion, Hemsworth once again opened up on the concerns surrounding his career.
Chris Hemsworth breaks silence on retirement rumors
Reprising the role of Tyler Rake in the most-watched original film in Netflix history, Chris Hemsworth talked about his future in acting before the release of Extraction 2. Citing how he has been consistently working on various projects for more than a decade, the Ghostbusters actor talked about how the Disney+ series Limitless changed his perspectives.
“It all got a little sort of blown out of proportion. I wanted to take off because I’ve been working for 10 years, and I’ve got three kids that I want to spend more time with. Doing that show, each episode resonated in such a way that made me realize how life is just flying by, and I wanted to be still for long periods and more often.”
Moreover, adding how Limitless, a show about altering life through lifestyle changes helped him deal with his issues, Hemsworth continued,
“The information about the predisposition… allowed me to make all the changes — whether it be nutrition, my training, my mental fitness. Which is the point of the series. The whole point for me was to give people access to tools, knowledge, information on how to live a better, longer, healthier life.”
Furthermore, he went on to share his aims and objectives for the rest of his career.
Chris Hemsworth hopes to provide greater value through his work
While addressing the retirement rumors, Hemsworth shared that for a long time, he had focused on acquiring consistent employment. Talking about how his health scare helped him gain a better perspective on his future plans, the Thor actor said,
“I’ve been running from project to project for long time, just to avoid being unemployed or that fear that it’s the last job you’ll get, you know? I wanna be more curated about the choices I make, things I immerse myself in or I’m involved in. I want to have greater value and work with great people.”
It looks like Hemsworth isn’t ready to take a hiatus from acting yet. Reportedly, after recently appearing in Spiderhead and Thor: Love and Thunder, the actor will soon be seen in Mad Max: Fury Road prequel Furiosa and Transformers One.
