With the third season of The Witcher inching toward its release, many fans have already deemed this season as the last following Henry Cavill’s exit from the role of Geralt of Rivia after this one. However, not everyone is inclined toward this idea, including Cavill’s costar Mecia Simson, who will be reprising the role of Francesca, as she believes The Witcher as a show is too big to fail.
However, fans of the Man of Steel star haven’t been too receptive to the idea of witnessing a new Geralt of Rivia after the 3rd season and have showcased their disagreement with Simson’s statement.
Mecia Simson believes that Henry Cavill’s exclusion will not affect The Witcher much
While reflecting on the exclusion of Henry Cavill from the role after the third season, Mecia Simson claimed that it came as a shock to her and everyone else on the team. However, despite being sad after the heartbreaking news, she believes there are more exciting times ahead for the show, as The Witcher is too big to fail right now. With Liam Hemsworth set to carry the mantle forward, the actress believes that he will do a great job as the new Geralt of Rivia. She stated,
“I was very shocked when I found out because we’ve done three seasons with him. Obviously, it’s sad because it’s an end of an era. But that’s okay. And I think what comes next… there’s going to be more exciting things that are going to happen. I think the show is still going to be great and I feel like we’re grateful that we had the time that we did when we had him.”
But unlike the actress, a substantial portion of the fanbase hasn’t been too optimistic about the show’s future after the third season.
Fans showcased disagreement with Mecia SImson’s statement
Considering one of the alleged reasons behind Henry Cavill’s exit was creative differences with The Witcher creators, fans aren’t too optimistic about the show’s future without Cavill at the helm. Unlike Simson, a substantial portion of the fandom hasn’t been open to the change in the lead, as the Man of Steel star was one of the biggest attractions of the show for a substantial portion of fans. And several of them have now showcased their disagreement with the actress’ statement about the show’s future on Twitter.
With The Witcher set to move forward from Cavill, fans are hoping that the third season will give the source material its respect and craft the perfect ending for the actor’s glorious run as the iconic character.
The Witcher Season 3 Volume 1 will release on June 29 and Volume 2 on July 27 on Netflix.
