Followed by Daniel Craig’s James Bond, many Hollywood stars have joined the list to be the next actor to don the title of 007. And along with fans, Peaky Blinders star Cillian Murphy also has some ideas for future James Bond movies. As many look forward to seeing actors like Henry Cavill, Tom Hardy, Idris Elba, and many others as the MI6 agent, Murphy is looking forward to finally seeing a female James Bond.
It has been a long-time discussion among James Bond fans and only took heights after Daniel Craig announced that No Time to Die would be his last film in the James Bond franchise. The Batman Begins actor, who has also been one of the top candidates for the role, said that a woman should lead the next James Bond series.
Cillian Murphy Wants A Woman to be the Next James Bond
Among many actors who could potentially be the next James Bond, Cillian Murphy, has also been one of the popular names. The actor is known for his work in the fictional crime drama Peaky Blinders, and many believe that he is a fit for portraying a “gritty role” like James Bond.
When he was asked the same during his interview with The Guardian, he was skeptical of saying anything, as he believed it would have given rise to many rumors. However, he shared the one thing he’s looking forward to in the next James Bond movie that would rule him out as a candidate.
“The thing about it is, if you say anything about Bond, it becomes the headline, right?” he stated before saying, “The second thing I’d say is that I think it should be a woman.” The Dunkirk actor further mentioned that would rule out the possibility of him being the next James Bond.
Lashana Lynch is among some of the top actresses fans wish to see as the next James Bond. Rumors also started about her being the new 007, but it was later reported that her character would take Bond’s number 007 instead of being the new James Bond.
Lashana Lynch Doesn’t Want to Be the Next James Bond
After her character, Nomi, took over Bond’s number 007 in No Time to Die, it was assumed that she would be the next James Bond. However, during an interview with Inevers, she seemingly hinted that she does not want to be James Bond but rather wants to explore her character in potential future movies.
The actress said that both Nomi and Bond have “incredible difference[s]” before saying, “We don’t need another James Bond.” She shared that she wants the makers to explore the “double O program” and introduce more MI6 spies upfront, as James Bond has been the point of focus for a long time.
