David Lynch is an American filmmaker known for directing projects like Dune (1984) and Twin Peaks and is a highly revered director from the 1980s. Known for portraying strong female protagonists, the director’s movies have often been misinterpreted.
With several accusations of misogyny often seen in his films, the director has been accused of laughing during a r*pe scene in his film Blue Velvet by actress Isabella Rossellini and the details are quite gruesome to hear.
When Dune Director David Lynch Laughed During A R*pe Scene

In the movie, there is a r*pe scene that had Isabella Rossellini with Dennis Hooper. After the movie was released, Rossellini stated that Lynch was allegedly laughing during the shooting of that r*pe scene and the actress blurted out in an interview “I still don’t know why”. To add fuel to the fire, the actress started dating the director which broke Lynch’s wife Mary Fisk’s heart.
As Mary Fisk recalls, “My heart was truly broken, and I was walking around like a lost person with blood dripping from every pore”. Although suffering and hurting, Fisk eventually forgave her ex-husband.

David Lynch Doesn’t Like To Explain His Movies
With ominous movies and unclear endings, David Lynch has often been the talk of the town for the way his movies are created. In an interview, the director revealed that he doesn’t like to explain his work since it feels like committing a crime!
“When you finish anything, people want you to then talk about it. And I think it’s almost like a crime. A film or a painting – each thing is its own sort of language, and it’s not right to try to say the same thing in words. The words are not there. The language of film, cinema, is the language it was put into, and the English language – it’s not going to translate. It’s going to lose.”
Despite being a cinematic genius, he could not escape the harsh criticism against his nature. With such allegations, the affair of Isabella Rossellini didn’t last long with director David Lynch. The director, after divorcing Mary Fisk, went on to marry two more times with Emily Stofle being his recent spouse. As for the 1986 movie, Blue Velvet received a rating of 7.7/10 on IMDB and 95% on Rotten Tomatoes. The movie is currently available to stream on Max in the U.S.
