Sandra Bullock Got Emotional on Watching Black Panther
In an interview with Access, Sandra Bullock opened up about her emotions on meeting the Black Panther cast at the 2018 Oscars Awards. She shared how watching black superheroes on the big screen was a great moment for her as a mother. It was because her children now have a superhero whom they could relate to.
“I was just behind the “Black Panther” cast and I started to cry backstage when I was telling them how much it meant to me as a woman, but how much it meant to me a a mother.”
She continued,
“That says a lot about where we are in this world and in the world of superheroes.”
She showed her gratitude to the Marvel franchise for introducing the Black Panther hero as she stated,
“I am so grateful to Marvel because about five years ago, my son asked me if there were any brown legos. And I said, ‘Yes there are.’ And I got a sharpie and I turned Spider-Man brown and I turned the LEGOs brown and I don’t have to turn them brown anymore.”
Despite the fact that she loves superheroes and is grateful to Marvel for giving her someone her kids can look up to, she once refused to accept a superhero role.
Sandra Bullock Refused to Become Wonder Woman
“I was approached for something that wasn’t Marvel, but my son said not to do it.”
“It was kind of not in the place [my son] felt I should be. He was actually right. I saw it when it came out and I said, ‘That’s unfortunate.’ It came out and everything. He was like six when he asked me not to do it, and I said, ‘Okay.’”
Later on, it was concluded that she was offered to be Wonder Woman which she did not regret turning down. Later on, Warner Bros. released the Wonder Woman film featuring Gal Gadot which grossed $822 million.
