One Piece, one of the Big Three, is so popular and widely recognized by fans that it is frequently in the news. At present, Luffy’s Gear 5 avatar is constantly creating headlines and breaking the internet. This anime’s manga has been in production since 1997. The one piece, a prize greatly sought after in anime, has not even been revealed by the series’ author, Eiichiro Oda, a highly regarded manga artist within the industry.
And now, the live-action One Piece Netflix series, which will debut on the streaming site on August 31st, is just a few weeks away, and fans cannot keep calm. There are some significant milestones to cover as it adapts the East Blue Saga, which saw Monkey D. Luffy gather the original Straw Hat Pirates on the Going Merry.
Nami, as played by Emily Rudd, and the intriguing casting tale
Nami will be played by Emily Rudd, whom fans admire, and Eiichiro Oda has given his approval. Netflix’s One Piece live-action version will undoubtedly be unique in certain respects, which means characters like Rudd’s Nami will differ from what fans are accustomed to seeing in manga and anime. Emily Rudd recently disclosed that she has been lobbying for the position for nearly three years, demonstrating her passion for becoming a member of the live-action Grand Line.
“One Piece is one of my favorite manga, and I’ve always felt drawn to Nami in particular. When I heard they were making a live-action series, I started not-so-secretly playing the long game by lobbying for this role for three years. I colored my hair red and got it cut just like Nami’s. I posted a video of myself when I was younger tumbling and doing backflips and things like that. I was just trying my hardest to get anyone who might notice to really see me as Nami. So, to finally audition, I was like, ‘Oh my God, I did it! I can’t believe I did it. What timeline am I on? How did I get so lucky?’ It was crazy. I got to work my dream job.”
This is like drawing inspiration from Tom Holland’s casting of Spider-Man.
“For my auditions for Spider-Man, all I did was send them videos of me doing backflips. By the way, I do gymnastics. Then I got to my final audition, and it was a fight scene with Chris Evans, and it says Spider-Man flips in a frame. So, I said to the producers, Do you want me to do a flip? They were like, Can you do a flip? Well, yes! I’ve been sending you all these videos for weeks!,”
Holland said, nodding to Spider-Man’s athletic prowess.
What is Nami’s character like?
The “Cat Burglar” Nami, one of the Senior Officers of the Straw Hat grand fleet, serves as the navigator for the Straw Hat Pirates. She is the second person to join the crew during the Orange Town Arc, making her third overall. Nojiko and her sister are adopted siblings who were raised by Bell-mère after becoming orphans.
In addition to her aptitude for navigation, Nami has demonstrated that she is a skilled pickpocket and a great thief. She developed the ability to steal little objects, like keys, from her victims without their realizing it. Just before she departed her community, she displayed her most impressive thieving prowess. She ran past the locals bidding her farewell at the harbor and took a number of wallets.
Despite not possessing a devil fruit, Nami exhibits extraordinary agility and amazing leg strength by jumping great lengths across rooftops in Water 7. Nami is also physically very athletic and strong, and when she is incredibly angry, especially due to Luffy’s wasteful spending, she can pack punches that are so powerful they may leave bleeding bruises on the extraordinarily durable Luffy.
