Jennifer Lawrence Recalled Unpleasant Experience When She Was in Middle School
“Ugh, there was this one girl at school who handed me a stack of invitations to her birthday party, but I was not invited.”
“It’s fine, I spat on them and threw them in the trash.”
Her middle school life was not for long since she dropped out of her school to chase her dreams.
Jennifer Lawrence is Self-Educated!
In an appearance on Bill Whitaker at 60 Minutes, she was asked about finishing high school. She responded,
“I dropped out of middle school. I don’t technically have a GED or a diploma. I am self-educated.”
She chose to drop formal education at the young age of 14 to pursue acting but found it difficult to explain it to others.
“It’s so hard to explain, it was just an overwhelming feeling of, ‘I get this. This is what I was meant to do.’ And to get people to try to understand that when you’re 14 years old, wanting to drop out of school and do this and your parents are just like, ‘You’re out of your mind.'”
While her parents were not supporting her dropout decision, she convinced her slowly and steadily. She once told Andy Cohen,
“Well, I slowly tricked them. At first, it was like, ‘Oh, it’s just gonna be until here.”
She continued,
“It’s a lot of details, but I can promise you that my parents thought they were doing the right thing, and I was very conniving. I’ll take the bullet.”
While she dealt with lots of troubles along the way, success soon knocked at her door as Lawrence filmed Winter’s Bone at 18 which earned her first Oscar nomination in 2011. The No Hard Feelings grossed $79 million worldwide gaining positive critics.
