Even the biggest Hollywood celebrities get star-struck when they meet other famous personalities, and that’s exactly what happened to The Hunger Games star Jennifer Lawrence. The actress once confessed that singer-songwriter Ariana Grande had this effect on her.
It might seem unlikely for the two stars to cross paths, but Lawrence and Grande finally met in Adam McKay’s Don’t Look Up film. The star-studded cast includes Leonardo DiCaprio, Cate Blanchett, Meryl Streep, Jonah Hill, and Timothée Chalamet, to name a few.
Don’t Look Up Actress Jennifer Lawrence Admits Fangirling Over Ariana Grande
Jennifer Lawrence revealed to Entertainment Tonight that she was mesmerized upon meeting the pop singer, even more,, awestruck than seeing the legendary Meryl Streep:
“I’m excited to be here with the whole cast. I’m so excited for this movie and for people to see it. I mean, Meryl Streep is the actual greatest actor that has ever lived, and when you watch her in person it only confirms that. I think I was more star-struck to be around Ariana Grande. Because our worlds don’t really collide with the musicians, and what she does is so different.”
Lawrence pulled a joke and claimed she could sing better than the two-time Grammy winner:
“I mean, I sound similar, don’t get me wrong – better even. I’m coming out with something, you’ll see.”
During a Q&A at the Harmony Gold Theatre for BAFTA Awards, the Red Sparrow star revealed her excitement working with Grande in Don’t Look Up and admitted she fangirled too much (via Variety):
“She can’t make bad music. I’ve since reflected on my behavior with Ariana Grande. I went full radio contest winner. I was so excited and nervous that at one point, I just kind of walked into her hotel room and sat down. I’ve just been thinking about it a lot lately. There were all of these trunks for her hair and makeup, and I was like, ‘Do you live here?’”
Jennifer Lawrence played Kate Dibiasky, an MSU doctoral candidate in astronomy, in Don’t Look Up. Meanwhile, Ariana Grande portrayed Riley Bina, a pop superstar in the movie, who also co-wrote the film’s original song ‘Just Look Up.’
Jennifer Lawrence Won’t Stop Raving About Her Encounter With Ariana Grande
Jennifer Lawrence would still gush about her heaven-sent meeting with the songwriter. In her recent interview with W Magazine, she acknowledged Ariana Grande as one of the biggest celebrities in the world:
“To me, the biggest celebrities in the world are, like, Pete Davidson. Or when Ariana Grande was in my last film, Don’t Look Up, I was photographed with her, and I fully look like a radio contest winner.”
The American Hustle star recently appeared on Causeway, a limited film release that premiered on Apple TV last year. Lawrence is now gearing up for her upcoming R-rated film by Gene Stupnitsky, No Hard Feelings, coming to theaters this June 23, 2023.
Don’t Look Up is available to stream on Netflix.
