George Clooney gave away millions to his friends
George Clooney started his acting journey with his role as Dr. Doug Ross on the NBC medical drama ER. The show was a grand success, and the actor received two Primetime Emmy Award nominations for the role. From thereon, he did numerous box office hits like From Dusk Till Dawn, Three Kings, and more. The actor was earning handsomely at the time, and presently he is regarded among the highest-paid stars in the industry.
He opened up on his youth days on the Howard Stern Show as he recalled generously gifting 14 of his close friends $1,000,000 each in cash. Clooney recalled,
“At the time I was a single guy and I was making out my will. I knew who I was going to leave it to—it was these guys, I slept on their couches and they loaned me money,” Clooney told Howard Stern. “I was making this will out and I was like, ‘What the fuck are we waiting for? For us to be gumming our bread?”
He added, “It felt like, let’s just get the will part over with while we’re still around.”
The actor surprised his friends as he handed them millions of dollars to express his gratitude for being there for him.
George Clooney opened up on his and Amal Alamuddin’s love story
In the interview with Howard Stern, the actor shared his intriguing love story. The Midnight Sky actor shared that he met his wife through a mutual friend. He said,
“In walks Amal, and she’s, you know, stunning and funny and the smartest person in every room she walks into—and I was really taken with her.”
They kept things slow-paced initially as the actor was scared that the 17 years younger humanitarian lawyer wouldn’t even like him. He said,
“I liked her but … I couldn’t tell if she liked me. I’m 17 years older than her, so she might’ve thought I was Grandpa.”
Eventually, the duo started dating, and within a few months, The American actor proposed to her.
The actor recalled that he had put in an elaborate proposal plan, which comprised a homecooked, candlelit dinner and a custom engagement ring. He went down on one knee and asked her to marry him. The couple married a year later, and on the same date he had given money to his friends. The actor called it an act of Karma.
