Based on the story of a genius mathematician taking help from a psychiatrist, the 1997 movie made quite a record-breaking number both in terms of reviews and appreciation from the audience for the movie. With Matt Damon and Ben Affleck starring as the main leads, the duo was also awarded the best screenplay award for Good Will Hunting.
During the recent promotion of the 2023 movie Air, the duo reunited on the red-carpet event for the movie. Talking to Variety, Matt Damon shared the craziest pitch that they had ever gotten. The script was for a sequel to the classic 1997 movie Good Will Hunting.
“Someone just tried to pitch Ben [Affleck] ‘Good Will Hunting 2’. (laughs) I sh*t you not. That happened. He told me today, I heard him—the reason it’s the top of my mind is cause he’s like, ‘You’re not going to believe what I heard.'”
When the story was brought up to Ben Affleck, the Justice League actor also shared a chuckle and stated that Damon should not be telling these stories publicly.
“Matt [Damon] is always telling stories he should not be telling (laughs). It’s not one we’re going to pursue.”
With a great premise of brilliance set against the backdrop of an emotional crisis, Good Will Hunting essentially made both the actors famous and gave them the breakthrough that they needed to make it big in Hollywood.
Matt Damon Calls Out Jimmy Kimmel For Being An A**hole
There has been a long-running feud between the host of Jimmy Kimmel Live and Matt Damon. The supposed feud has been going on for so long that they don’t even see eye-to-eye during a red-carpet event.
This was the case when Ben Affleck and the Interstellar actor promoted Air. Talking in an interview, Damon stated that he is not interested in burying the past and called Jimmy Kimmel an “a**hole” for being that way.
“No, no, he’s an a**hole. Why would I ever do that? He’s a terrible human being. He’s a terrible human being. He’s a demonstrably bad man.”
With long-running feuds and friendships that exceed decades, Matt Damon and Ben Affleck are currently promoting their film Air. The tale of how Michael Jordan and Nike came to be, the movie is set for a release date of 5th April 2023.
