Daniel Radcliffe, who led the Harry Potter series by portraying the titular role gained global stardom and why not, since the magical franchise unveiled many exciting adventures and unique spells that sometimes are hard to pronounce. It was quite a phenomenon how the franchise built its legacy but it’s all thanks to its perfect cast, amazing plots, eye-catching visuals, and whatnot that transformed everyone into its die-hard fans!
However, as much as we like everything about it, behind the scenes, many things were happening including our titular actor’s sweet confession for his co-star.
Daniel Radcliffe Had a Crush on His Harry Potter Co-star, Helena Bonham Carter
On HBO Max’s Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts special, the latter admitted that he had a crush on Carter while they were filming. The actress then handed him an old letter that Radcliffe once wrote to her.
It happened after she had asked for his autograph. She handed him her phone and eventually asked him to read from the picture she took from her phone.
Reading the note, he shared,
“Dear HBC, it was a pleasure being your costar and coaster, in the sense that I always ended up holding your coffee.”
The next would make anyone’s heart flutter as he stated,
“I do love you and I just wish I’d been born 10 years earlier. I might’ve been in with a chance. Lots of love and thanks for being cool.”
After he had finished reading the note aloud, she shared,
“Isn’t it nice? I shall always treasure that. That is in my toilet, Dan.”
Quite sweet! The actress debuted opposite him in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, which could have been the starting point of his crushing on her.
Daniel Radcliffe Reconnected With Helena Bonham Carter After Harry Potter Reunion
“Over the last few months, I’ve actually texted with Helena a bit since the reunion. I think when I’m back in London we’re definitely going to try and hang out at some point.”
He continued to share why this reunion turned out to be special for him.
“One of the nice things about the Harry Potter reunion actually was just getting to have adult conversations with people I’d only known as a child, that was so cool, and in a way that I hadn’t really expected. But kind of going like, ‘Oh, we could hang out now. This is fun.’ Yeah. So that’s been really nice.”
