Despite the significant shake-up, the remaining cast members of “The Witcher” have impressed the audience with their performances. Notably, Anya Chalotra is loved for her portrayal of Yennefer of Vengerberg. While the show often deviates from its source material, Chalotra has managed to keep the essence of the character. However, the actress felt powerless and took some time to find her bearings with the character.

Chalotra Struggled A Lot While Playing Young Yennefer

During an interview with Collider, the actress opened up about her career and experience portraying a significant role. Chalotra admitted that she struggled to play the younger self of Yennefer.

“Whenever I played the younger Yennefer, I really struggled because there was so much of her physicality that felt inhibiting at the time because I had very little time to kind of form the younger Yennefer,” Chalotra said. “So I struggled to connect with things that I would have liked to pay more attention to.”

How Did Chalotra Overcome These Hurdles

After facing trouble embodying the character, Chalotra contacted a mentor for help. The guidance she received proved to be helpful in grasping the role better. Nevertheless, she faced difficulties portraying that aspect of Yennefer’s character for over four months.

She spoke about the hurdles of portraying Yennefer’s physical limitations, referring to the character’s twisted spine condition. It was before the use of magic in the show to fix her body.

It’s natural for any actor to acclimate to a new role, so, understandably, Chalotra had trouble playing Yennefer’s younger self. Consider the character’s journey from an ordinary individual to one of the most potent sorceresses. Bringing that kind of change to a character could be challenging for any actor.
