The Harry Potter franchise is one of the most famous franchises in the history of cinema. Having one of the most amazing casts, with actors like Emma Watson, Alan Rickman, Helena Bonham Carter, and Gary Oldman, the franchise featured some of the best actor British cinema has to offer. It has also created one of the biggest fan followings of all time, with its fans turning the books and films into something so much bigger than its creator could ever imagine.
Being this famous, it only natural that over time, a few cast members would feature little easter eggs about their own, personal life in the franchise. Tom Felton did something similar with he asked his then-girlfriend to feature in a small role in the final film with him.
Tom Felton Convinced His Girlfriend To Appear In A Harry Potter Film
During the final few minutes of the last Harry Potter film, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows — Part II, there was a sequence set in the future where we see all of our beloved characters grown up, and married with kids. We see Harry Potter’s character married to Ginny Weasley, standing at the train station with their children, along with Ron and Hermione with their children. Surprisingly, however, we see a sort of heartfelt moment for the character of Draco Malfoy when he is seen with his wife and son.
“She was at first reluctant, but I pulled her arm and twisted it. She was filming with me for three days at King’s Cross [railway station in the U.K.]; we were very excited.” he stated.
The actress who plays Draco’s wife is, in fact, not just any actress, but Draco’s actor, Tom Felton’s then-girlfriend, Jade Gordon. Felton once revealed that though he had to do quite a lot of convincing for Gordon to agree to appear in the film, the two eventually were on set together for three days and had quite a fun time, stating that they were quite excited.
Draco Malfoy Was Supposed To Have A Bigger Role In The Last Harry Potter Film
Speaking of things that fans may not know about the Harry Potter franchise, many may not be aware that Tom Felton’s character was supposed to have a much more significant role in the finale for the eight-film spectacle. Many fans have argued that Draco Malfoy did not get the redemption that his character so desperately needed and deserved, however, a scene in the final film may have done just that if it have not been removed from the final cut of the film.
In the final cut of the film, Draco moves over to Voldemort’s side and ultimately runs from battle, only to be seen years later at the train station with his wife and son. Things, however, could have been very different because of this one, small scene where Draco helps Harry Potter protect himself from the Dark Lord by throwing him his wand, almost completely changing the trajectory of his character. The scene was, however, removed from the film as the production team thought it to be ‘out of character’ for him.
