When Henry Cavill’s Hamstring Injury Left Him On Crutches

Saving the Continent came at a heavy price for the Man of Steel actor due to an injury. While on the sets of The Witcher back in 2020, the actor liked to do his own stunts and sustained a hamstring injury. The actor was reportedly filming a woodland scene when the injury occurred. The hamstring injury was so severe that the production of The Witcher came to a temporary halt.

While in his interview with People, the actor talked about his injury and how mental health helped him along the way for a faster recovery.

“When I look back, I realize, yes, it was a hard time. I think one of the skills I’ve picked up over the years is just forging ahead regardless of difficulty or hard work or trials and tribulations. So when the hamstring injury came, I tried to look at the silver lining”

The Enola Holmes actor continued,

“It was like, ‘Ok. I was working insane hours and it was exhausting and I now physically can’t work because I’m on crutches.’ So I was focusing more on taking the time off and going, how can I best heal myself?”

The actor further continued about how he uses his mental health and how the break albeit due to the injury, was necessary for him.

“When it comes to my mental health, [I] focus on what I can control and work on that. And that gives me something to work towards rather than something to deal with or work through or manage my life through.”

During the year 2020, Henry Cavill was busy shooting The Witcher season 2 when the injury was sustained. The actor further debuted his role as Sherlock Holmes in Millie Bobby Brown’s Enola Holmes during the same year. He later reprised his role as Superman a year after in  Zack Snyder’s Justice League or more popularly known as The Snyder Cut.

The blame fell on the creative difference between the actor and long-time showrunner Lauren Hissrich which made the actor call it quits. Henry Cavill left The Witcher franchise at the exact moment the new DCU was formed. It was reported that Dwayne Johnson’s new era of DC focused more on Superman and gave him importance which wasn’t the case before.

After much teasing by Henry Cavill, there have been rumors that the actor isn’t as heavily involved as people think. According to sources, the alleged Man of Steel 2 hasn’t even been green-lit yet. Come to think of it, Cavill did say that they were planning to build from scratch. Although it hasn’t been confirmed, Man of Steel would do good for the newly made DCU.

Henry Cavill recently reprised his role of Sherlock Holmes in Enola Holmes 2 which is available to stream on Netflix.
