While the two mutants had already been together once in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, it’s only better to not discuss about that movie. But according to Reynolds, Hugh Jackman continued to pay no heed to his requests for a reunion before finally calling him to express his interest in it.

Was Hugh Jackman tough to be convinced?

The news of Hugh Jackman‘s comeback amazed the audience more as the conclusion of 2017’s Logan already marked the farewell of one of the most iconic castings ever. Despite everything, Ryan Reynolds always wanted to reunite the characters and wanted them to do action alongside each other on the big screen. But it was not easy to convince the 54-year-old as he already left the character long back.

Although Hugh Jackman expressed his interest in the project and agreed to do it one more time, Ryan Reynolds stated to ET Canada that he kept on trying for a decade to convince him.

“We’ve wanted to do this for a decade. So, to have this opportunity now is, I think weirdly, the perfect time. I mean, I never stopped. I was just pestering him like a gnat over the last many years. I believe in timing…and I think he was ready.”

Further, the Wade Wilson actor also added that the forthcoming MCU version of Wolverine will be different than what we have watched till now. According to Reynolds, this new iteration of the character is also one of the prime reasons why the actor wanted to come back.

“I think he was excited. And what we pitched him was enough of a divergence from the character that he knows and the character that he’s left behind, that it gives him something completely new to play and something that he’s really excited to do.”
