Harrison Ford has had an extensive career in Hollywood throughout the years that he has been working. With several decades worth of experience in the industry, Ford has been distrustful of the newer technology that people seem to have added to the film-making business.
One such technology is de-aging technology where an actor can be de-aged using VFX. Harrison Ford never liked the idea until he saw how the technology worked. Being marveled by the concept of archives and AI, Ford started falling in love with modern technology because it was simply so wonderful.
Harrison Ford Fell In Love With De-Aging Technology
With Ford returning to the iconic role of Indiana Jones in the upcoming movie Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, the actor recalled that the opening of the movie featured a de-aged Harrison Ford. The actor, being of veteran status, had no idea how certain technologies worked and hence, had a certain dislike for them ever since the beginning.
Although he was not a fan of the idea, the actor quickly fell in love with the technology of de-aging when he saw how the whole thing worked. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the actor talked about the use of de-aging technology and how he slowly fell in love with it.
“I never loved the idea until I saw how it was accomplished in this case — which is very different than the way it’s been done in other films I’ve seen. They’ve got every frame of film, either printed or unprinted, of me during 40 years of working with Lucasfilm on various stuff.”
He further continued,
“I can act the scene and they sort through with AI every fucking foot of film to find me in that same angle and light. It’s bizarre and it works and it is my face.”
With the actor slated to make his last appearance in the movie, the interviewer further asked Harrison Ford an insightful question.
Harrison Ford Reveals What It Was Like To Be Indiana Jones For The Last Time!
In the interview, the actor further stated that having portrayed the character of Indiana Jones for almost several decades. The interviewer asked Harrison Ford what it was like to wear the hat and the jacket for the last time and Ford had quite the reply.
“I’m playing this archaeologist … who wears a brown fedora … and a leather jacket regardless of the weather … and carries a whip? OK, I’ll do it! Look, it was bizarre to start with, and it’s bizarre again. But that feeling goes away immediately because it’s so grounded in other things.”
Portraying the character of Indiana Jones for one last time, Harrison Ford will be seen in Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny which will release on 30th June 2023 in theaters across the U.S.
