Looks like Amber Heard is enjoying her new life in Spain following the highly publicized legal drama with ex-husband Johnny Depp. The actress welcomed widespread hate and criticism after losing the defamation trial in the Virginia Court. As Johnny Depp was recently spotted at the Cannes Film Festival enjoying a long-standing ovation for his much-awaited big-screen comeback, it seems like the Aquaman star is also planning something same for herself.
Johnny Depp made his return to the movies with the French film Jeanne Du Barry and expressed some strong statements on his need for Hollywood. Similarly, Amber Heard, who still has her Aquaman 2 to be released, seems to be heading on the same path as she spoke about moving on in life.
Spain is helping Amber Heard to move on in life
Soon after losing one of the most notable celebrity legal cases, Amber Heard was quick to move to Spain with her daughter Oonagh Paige. While she intended to stay away from Hollywood, she recently attracted some limelight after sharing some updates on her life with the Spanish paparazzi.
After recently moving to Spain’s capital, The Rum Diary actress attracted quite a crowd. As she didn’t show any hesitation to give selfies and autographs to her fans, she also shared some intel on her personal life. On being asked about her new life in Madrid, Amber Heard replied in pure Spanish to the press:
“I love Spain so much. I hope I can get to stay here, I love living here. I hope you are good, it was a pleasure meeting you. I have to move forward, huh? That’s life.”
Surprisingly, the London Fields actress’ interview also hinted that Heard can make a potential comeback to the movies. But given the reception she got from the world, not many people will be celebrating the news. Even though Amber Heard is also yet to have her Aquaman and The Last Kingdom movie released, DC is not having a good time promoting it.
Aquaman 2 welcomed hate in CinemaCon
A first look at the last project of the old DC regime, Aquaman and The Last Kingdom was revealed at the recent CinemaCon. And it is no lie to say that not all the fans were excited about the movie leading to James Gunn’s new DCU. The comeback of Amber Heard as Mera troubled many, who filled Twitter with several hashtags calling everyone to boycott the movie.
On the other hand, when Johnny Depp was spotted at the Cannes Film Festival, he passed some strong statements on Hollywood. The Jack Sparrow fame lost some of his best projects during the trial and the actor doesn’t feel the need for Hollywood anymore.
“Do I feel boycotted now? No, not at all. I don’t feel boycotted by Hollywood because I don’t think about it. I don’t think about Hollywood. I don’t have much further need for Hollywood myself.”
The actor also spoke out about how he was forced out of the Fantastic Beasts franchise based on some allegations when he lost the libel case against The Sun. It is no doubt that Aquaman 2’s Amber Heard presence is sure to affect the movie to some extent. Depp, on the contrary, is currently enjoying praise for Jeanne Du Barry and is also set to direct a feature based on the life of Italian painter Modigliani with Al Pacino as his co-producer.
Aquaman and The Last Kingdom is going to hit theaters on December 20, 2023.
