Many actors have had problems in the past with their character’s intimate or naked scenes in the movies and have often argued with the writers. Sandra Bullock who played the role of Dr. Ryan Stone in the film, Gravity also had similar complaints when the actress’ character was forced to wear shorts that revealed her bottom.
Although she went on receive an Oscar award nomination for her role in the movie, the actress once revealed in an interview that she didn’t understand why her character had to wear such clothes that ultimately revealed her butt in the movie.
Sandra Bullock voiced her displeasure against her character’s revealing outfits in Gravity
Sandra Bullock played the role of an astronaut, Dr. Ryan Stone in the movie, Gravity for which she even received an Oscar Award nomination. In most of the scenes, her character was supposed to be in a space shuttle and that is why the actress was confused when she was forced to wear clothes that exposed her butt.
The actress voiced her displeasure against the same in an interview and said,
“I worked out hard for this movie, I had to because there is a lot of me on show. I had a few arguments about the scenes where I’m basically in my underwear with pants that don’t even cover my bottom! I’m flying away from the camera so my butt is in people’s faces a lot. I mean, why is that necessary?”
The Blind Side actress was surprised when she got the role of Dr. Ryan Stone
According to sources, even Sandra Bullock was surprised when was offered the role of Dr. Ryan Stone. The actress once revealed a weird reason for not wanting to do the role in Gravity. Bullock said, “I don’t like to fly. I’ve never been a good flyer“. The actress further talked about how she hurt her friends in the process of flying. She said,
“I have a lot of friends that have permanent nail marks in their arms… The moaning that comes from me when there is turbulence. It’s awkward for everyone around.“
Furthermore, the character of Dr. Ryan Stone was allegedly originally written for Angelina Jolie. When she turned down the role, the role was still not offered to Bullock immediately. The role was allegedly offered to Scarlett Johansson and Blake Lively first but they needed an older actress to play the role. At one point, Alfonso Cuarón, the director of the movie gave the part to Natalie Portman even without the screen test. When Portman turned down the role, Sandra Bullock was finally approached for the role and she went on to absolutely nail her portrayal of Dr. Ryan Stone.
