Gwyneth Paltrow seemingly has a perfect life. She is a global star thanks to starring as Pepper Potts in the MCU, won an Oscar for Best Actress for her role in Shakespeare In Love, and owns a company called Goop. However, once upon a time, her ideal life came to a halt when she decided to divorce her husband, Chris Martin. The two met in 2002 during a Coldplay concert and married in 2003.
In 2004 their daughter Apple was born, followed by their son Moses in 2006. However, come 2014, the two decided to part ways because, as per Paltrow, they “never fully settled into being a couple.” However, Martin and Paltrow never grew bitter and instead remained close friends. However, it’s definitely a bit eyebrow-raising that she later referred to her ex-husband as her brother.
Gwyneth Paltrow Shocked Everyone By Calling Ex-Husband Chris Martin Her Brother
Plenty of celebrity couples have remained close friends after divorce. For example, Bruce Willis’ ex-wife Demi Moore is still close to his new family and is helping them after the heartbreaking Aphasia diagnosis of the star. However, it’s certainly a rarity to hear one-half of a celebrity couple refer to their ex-partner as a sort of sibling.
Yet, that is exactly what Gwyneth Paltrow referred to ex-husband and Coldplay frontman Chris Martin as. In an interview on Shop TODAY with Jill Martin, she said:
“He’s like my brother. You know, he’s my family. I love him. I’m so grateful to him for giving me these kids. It worked out well . . . You know, it really did, I have to say.”
While the Iron Man star is grateful to Chris Martin, her love life sailed past him long ago. The actress married director Brad Falchuk in 2018 after meeting him in 2014. Paltrow later stated that she has finally found her perfect partner in Falchuk.
Gwyneth Paltrow’s Divorce Was An Educational Moment For Her
In 2021, Gwyneth Paltrow sat down with Anna Faris on the podcast Anna Faris Is Unqualified, and discussed how her divorce helped her find the perfect man for herself. She said:
“I had learned more about myself through [my divorce] than I could have imagined. And because I focused on accountability, I was then able to find the most amazing man and build something that I’ve never had before.”
Gwyneth Paltrow seems to have stepped away from the world of films to focus on her company Goop, and her marriage with Brad Falchuk. However, the actress recently stated that she is open to starring as Pepper Potts in the MCU again, provided the appearance is small and not too time-consuming.
With rumors of a multiversal crossover happening in Avengers: Secret Wars, will we see Paltrow’s Pepper Potts reuniting with Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark/ Iron Man? That remains to be seen.
