Kate Winslet definitely garnered lots of praise for portraying the character of Rose opposite Leonardo DiCaprio‘s Jack. The actress was 21 years old when she was filming for the movie. Titanic served the 47-year-old actress with many acting opportunities but she also had a very hard time during the filming of the movie. During an interview, the I Am actress stated that there were days when she was unwell. While talking about her difficult filming moments, Winslet said,

“I chipped a small bone in my elbow. At one point, I had deep bruises all over my arms. I looked like a battered wife.”

Winslet mentioned that when she signed the film she had no idea that she would have to endure so much during the filming of the movie. Reportedly, things were daunting for the cast and crew members of the film as well.

The Dressmaker actress also mentioned that there were days when James Cameron would lose his cool on the crew members. Winslet explained that he would not vent his frustration on the actors as he knew it will affect their performance behind the camera. While talking about the 68-year-old filmmaker’s temper, the Little Children actress said,

“He’s a nice guy, but the problem was that his vision for the film was as clear as it was. He has a temper like you wouldn’t believe. As it was, the actors got off lightly. I think Jim knew he couldn’t shout at us the way he did to his crew because our performances would be no good.”

She further added,

“I did like him, and I did come to understand him. There were times he was very understanding. Logistically, it was a very tough film for him, as much as anyone. By the end, I was existing on about four hours of sleep a day, but Jim was existing on three.”

The romantic drama movie completed 25 years last year in 2022 and Winslet remembered to mention the film during an interview. The Quills actress responded that she is privileged to have been a part of such a special film when asked about her thoughts on the film’s 25th anniversary.
