Jackie Chan is known for doing dangerous stunts with ease and adding comedy elements to his action scenes. He is globally known for his slapstick acrobatic fighting style, comic timing, and innovative stunts, which he performs himself. The actor started his career with movies in Asia, and to date, he has done more than 150 films.
Despite being the biggest action star in the industry, he feels he is different from other action stars in Hollywood. Talking about the reason for the same, he shared in an interview that when he entered the Hollywood industry, he was considered the new Bruce Lee.
He shared,
“First when I became a star, everyone was like Jackie Chan is second Bruce Lee. Bruce is Bruce, Jackie Jackie. The audience knows because it’s a different type of style. Bruce is like, no one can beat him. He is serious and fighting. I always decide to fight, more comedy, more difficult movements.”
“Everyone can beat me. I like people to beat me.”
Jackie Chan worked as a stunt double in Bruce Lee’s 1972 film Fist of Fury.
Jackie Chan wants to be like Al Pacino
Rush Hour actor shared in an interview with GQ about the action stars of the East Asian film industry who have lost relevance and work. Hence, to get work at a later age, every performer needs to change and experiment with different kinds of films. The Karate Kid Star said,
“How many action stars are all gone? Only a few can stay. Stallone’s different. He’s a legend. Other action stars are already gone.”
He added,
“So that’s why I’m looking for a different script, different character, different Jackie Chan. I want the audience to look at Jackie Chan as an actor. Not the action star. Actor who can fight. Look at Clint Eastwood. If he continues to ‘Make my day’? Gone. So he changes to directing. He changes some other things. Look at Al Pacino. Robert De Niro. I wanna be an Asian Robert De Niro, Dustin Hoffman, Al Pacino.”
Jackie Chan will be seen alongside John Cena and Sylvester Stallone in the film Hidden Strike, which will stream on Netflix on 28 July. In the film, two ex-special forces soldiers take up the responsibility to escort a group of civilians along Baghdad’s Highway of Death to the safe Green Zone.
